SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

Because Axxerion is a native J2EE application it runs on any platform that supports Java including Windows, Linux and Solaris. The system includes various logical components including a web/application server, a database server, an imaging server, a document conversion server and a file storage. All components interact via the HTTP protocol and can run on different platforms without the need for any platform-specific file sharing software.

Minumum configuration: In this configuration all components run on a single system under Windows NT/XP/2003 server. The minimum hardware requirement is an AMD or Intel 2Ghz processor with 2Gb memory and 120Gb harddisk. This configuration is suitable for an environment with 100 users based on an average of 10 users concurrently signed on.

Basic configuration: In this configuration the application server and the database server run under Linux and the conversion server, imaging server and file storage on a second Windows system. The hardware requirements are similar to the minumum configuration. This configuration is suitable for an environment with 500 users of which 30 are logged in concurrently.

Preferred configuration: In this configuration a dual processor 3Ghz Linux system is used for the application server and a second dual processor 3Ghz Linux for the database server. The image server and conversion server run on a dual processor 3Ghz Windows server or alternatively on two separate single processor systems. This configuration can support 250 - 500 concurrent users.

Optimum configuration: Axxerion is designed to work on a clustered environment where the application runs simultaneously on multiple servers. A load balancer assigns users to one of the application servers. An application server can be added for every 250 concurrent users. Because all communication between servers uses HTTP you can add firewalls between the various tiers for added security.

Alternatively to setting up your own environment you can use Axxerion as a hosted service. The advantage of hosting is that you do not have to spend any time, money and resources in setting up and maintaining the environment. An advantage of deployment in your own environment is easier integration with other enterprise applications.
